The Story Behind the Artworks: Kiz Costelloe’s inspiration for the Earth Dreaming collection is rooted in her deep connection to Country. "I wanted it to replicate different perspectives of the Country from a bird’s-eye view. I have created each design to have its own unique layout, representing different parts of Country, different mobs, and different landscapes. The colours in this design were chosen to have that soft and delicate effect, with the light browns and pinks depicting the calmness yet resilience of our land. I’ve incorporated lines and circles to represent waterways such as rivers and waterholes. The dots and symbols around the circles show different meeting places which represent communities, towns, people gathering. I wanted each design to be unique while telling a similar story, representing the diverse landscapes which hold a lot of significance to our Country."
The Aboriginal Art Sand Dreaming Rug is a piece of art that also tells a story, bringing the beauty, Indigenous culture and spirit of the land into your classroom.
